Primus Atalact Lore: The RSL Story of Twinrift's Last Stand

Primus Atalact Lore: The Short Version

Players often search for Primus and Atalact as if they were two different heroes. They are one: Primus Atalact, a Dragonkin officer from the Raid Shadow Legends lore. He served in the household guard of Dragon Emperor Undrakar, trained the empire's elite fighters, and held the line at Twinrift when the Demonspawn came for his ruler. The RSL story, as told by the developers at Plarium, is short but memorable, and it ends with a question mark rather than a funeral.

This explainer walks through the Primus Atalact story in order, introduces the people and places involved, and then gets practical: what the lore means for the champions you collect, and what it does not tell you. FastAccess is an independent store and is not affiliated with Plarium. Everything below is the game's own story, retold in our words.

TL;DR

  • Who he is: A Dragonkin officer, bodyguard and instructor of elite soldiers under Dragon Emperor Undrakar.
  • What happens: He is kept home from a doomed expedition, protects the emperor from assassins, then makes a final stand when the Demonspawn overrun Twinrift.
  • How it ends: He vanishes. Either the Demonspawn cut him down or the sinking of Twinrift took him, and his gear most likely rests in the Void Reef.
  • Why it matters: It is a compact portrait of loyalty, and it gives a backstory to a champion you can add to your roster.

The Primus Atalact Story, Step by Step

1. Left behind in Twinrift

Before the Demonspawn invasion, the Dragonkin launched an enigmatic campaign into the Stormwind Wastes. Atalact wanted to be part of it. Undrakar refused and told him to stay in Twinrift, and Atalact, true to his nature, simply obeyed. The story notes that this campaign would later be remembered as the empire's worst failure. Being kept at home spared him that disaster, but it also meant he was exactly where the end would arrive.

2. Guarding the emperor through the Lost Isles war

When the Demonspawn armies swept across the Lost Isles, Atalact's work shifted from training soldiers to shielding one man. He stayed at the Dragon Emperor's side day and night, and the story credits him with killing many of the assassins sent after Undrakar. It is the clearest picture of his role: the person standing between the throne and the knife.

3. The fall of Twinrift

Eventually the Demonspawn poured into Twinrift itself. Undrakar and Hierophant Lazarius pulled back to attempt a risky piece of magic, a final throw of the dice. They needed time, and Undrakar gave Atalact his order: hold out for as long as breath allowed.

4. The last stand

The Dragonkin guardians formed ranks with Atalact and his fellow officers at the front. Against odds that should have broken them, they threw back one Demonspawn assault after another. Atalact's shouted commands kept the formation disciplined, and the story stresses that none of the Dragonkin there gave way. Every one of them fell fighting.

5. Gone without a trace

Nobody saw Atalact again. The story offers two possibilities: the Demonspawn killed him, or he went down with the city when Twinrift sank. His equipment most likely lies at the bottom of the Void Reef alongside thousands of other loyal Dragonkin. That open ending is the heart of the tale, and it is why Primus Atalact reads as a hero defined by duty rather than by victory.

Key Characters, Factions and Places

  • Primus Atalact: The Dragonkin officer at the center of the story. Emperor's bodyguard, trainer of elite warriors, widely admired for his obedience and staying power. His fate is left open.
  • Dragon Emperor Undrakar: Ruler of the empire Atalact serves. He keeps Atalact in Twinrift, relies on him as a bodyguard, and finally orders him to stand and fight while he works on a desperate plan.
  • Hierophant Lazarius: Withdraws with Undrakar to attempt the emergency magic. He has his own champion entry in the game.
  • The Demonspawn: The invading armies that conquer the Lost Isles and then overrun Twinrift. Demonspawn is also one of the factions whose champions you can collect.
  • The Dragonkin guardians: Atalact's people and the soldiers who die defending Twinrift. His fellow officers are not named in the story.
  • Twinrift: The seat of the emperor's court and the site of the final battle. The city sinks.
  • The Lost Isles, the Stormwind Wastes and the Void Reef: The island region the Demonspawn sweep across, the destination of the ill-fated Dragonkin campaign, and the probable resting place of Atalact's gear.

What the Lore Means for RSL Players

The first thing to be clear about is that Raid Shadow Legends lore is flavor, not a stat sheet. The Primus Atalact story tells you who he was and how he met his end, but it says nothing about his rarity, affinity, faction or skills. Nothing in the narrative suggests how strong he is in battle, so judge the champion by his kit in the game, not by how moving the backstory feels.

In the game, Primus Atalact arrived with the Halloween 2026 lineup as an Epic Lizardmen champion with Void affinity and the Defense role, and he is the ingredient champion of the Orynyx Mindcrawler fusion. His kit is covered in our Halloween champions guide, and the fusion itself is explained in our Orynyx Mindcrawler fusion guide.

That said, lore is a perfectly good reason to collect. Many players build their roster around characters they like, and this story gives you a natural set of names to look for: Atalact himself, Hierophant Lazarius, and the Demonspawn who serve as the antagonists. A champion with a memorable backstory is simply more fun to level up, especially when you are working through long grinds.

If you also care about performance, pair the story with some numbers. Our Clan Boss tier list is a good place to check how a champion stacks up before you commit books, gear and Silver to them.

Primus Atalact Lore FAQ

Are Primus and Atalact two different champions?

No. Primus Atalact is a single champion. The name is often split into two keywords in searches, but the story is about one Dragonkin officer.

Who is Dragon Emperor Undrakar?

Undrakar is the ruler of the Dragonkin empire in this story. He is the one Atalact protects from assassins, and the one who orders him to stand his ground at Twinrift while he and Hierophant Lazarius attempt a last-ditch spell.

Did Primus Atalact die at Twinrift?

The story does not say for certain. Atalact was never seen again, and the text leaves two options open: the Demonspawn killed him, or he died when the city sank. His gear probably lies in the Void Reef with countless other loyal Dragonkin.

Does the lore tell me if Primus Atalact is a good champion?

No. The story covers his past, not his rarity, faction, affinity or abilities. Check his skills in the game and compare him with current tier lists before you invest resources in him.
