Buying a Honkai: Star Rail Account: Starter or Endgame?
Honkai listings live and die on two numbers: the characters and their eidolons. Everything else in the description is secondary, including the account level everyone quotes first.
Starter accounts are a real category here
A large share of the market is fresh accounts at AR 4–10 that already carry one or two strong five-stars from a rerolled banner. The tutorial is done, nothing else is spent, and the account is otherwise untouched.
These are the cheapest way to start with a character you actually want, and they are usually the best value if you intend to play the account yourself rather than inherit somebody’s progress.
Eidolons and Light Cones are the price
An E0 character and the same character at E2 are separated by a great deal of money. A signature Light Cone is another step again.
Read the listing for these specifically. "Has Acheron" and "Has Acheron E2S1" are very different accounts.
Server matters, and cannot be changed
Europe, America and Asia are separate. Pick the one your friends play on, or the one whose reset time suits you — there is no way to move later.

What does AR 4 mean on a Honkai account?
It means the account has barely started — the tutorial is complete and little else. On a starter account that is the point: the strong characters are there, but the progression is still yours to play.
Can eidolons be added later?
Only by pulling more copies of the character. They cannot be transferred between accounts, which is why they carry most of the price.
